Toy Hauler
An RV (travel trailer or fifth wheel) with a rear garage and fold-down ramp for hauling motorcycles, ATVs, or any oversized cargo.
Also called: toy hauler, garage trailer, motorsports trailer
A toy hauler is a travel trailer or fifth wheel built with a rear garage and a fold-down ramp door for loading motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, bicycles, or any cargo too large for inside a normal RV.
The garage is the differentiating feature. Otherwise toy haulers function like their conventional counterparts.
Two body styles
| Toy hauler travel trailer | Toy hauler fifth wheel | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 24-35 ft | 30-42 ft |
| Garage | 8-14 ft | 10-16 ft |
| Sleeps | 4-6 | 4-8 |
| Tow vehicle | SUV or pickup | Pickup with bed-mounted hitch |
Who actually needs one
- Motorsports trips (ATV, dirt bike, side-by-side)
- Trips with kayaks, paddleboards, multiple mountain bikes
- Trips with golf carts, off-road bikes, or any oversized cargo
For traditional family RV trips with no oversized cargo, a regular trailer is lighter and uses living space more efficiently.
